Georgian Bay Beach House
Project Description: Set along the shoreline of Georgian Bay, this beach house offered the opportunity to resist the expected language of a rural home. Rather than leaning into overt cottage cues, the interiors balance crisp architecture with softened, sculptural forms. Wood ceilings introduce rhythm and warmth, while curved furniture, structural lighting, and subtly contoured joinery temper the home’s linear structure. Angled wood walls conceal structural beams along the entry and extend into the dining room, creating an open-air dining space at the centre of the ground floor with uninterrupted lake views.
Material choices are intentionally restrained and tactile—lime-washed surfaces, honed natural stone, and layered textiles—allowing light, proportion, and shadow to do the heavy lifting. The result is a calm yet architectural interior, deeply connected to its Georgian Bay setting while sitting just outside convention.
